We need clear air-quality guidelines

Print Comment
Contrary to recent published opinions, I am very alarmed by the American Lung Association giving Nevada County another "F" for air quality.

One out of six kids in Nevada County has asthma. That's alarming!

My perspective is that the EPA Air Quality Index ratings have been way too high. "Good" stops quickly, "moderate" is wishful thinking and "unhealthy" lacks any meaningful parameters.

Your article stated that Nevada County's unhealthy days only come when temperatures go over 100 degrees in the summer. No way! Many more days are unhealthy or we would not have such a high rate of asthma.

We need precautionary guidelines which state that all athletic practices occur in the morning when ozone levels are typically lower.
