Two Gold Mine wrestlers placed last weekend at the California championships held in Temecula.

Julian Purdy placed fourth in the Greco Roman State Championships 13-14 year old division, with six wins and two losses. Purdy's losses were against a three-time state champion and a two-time TOC champion.

Will Sumner took sixth place in the 11-12 year old division after suffering a concussion early in the tournament and forfeiting his last two matches.

Purdy and Sumner will compete in the freestyle state wrestling championships on June 6-7 in San Jose.
