Finding her true voice

Back by popular demand, Foothill Theatre Company presents encore performances of Katie Rubin's hilarious one woman show "Insides OUT!" Katie most recently starred in FTC's production of "Urinetown, the Musical" as the tough plunger toting Miss Pennywise.

Rubin pulls freely from an impressive array of performance skills, using stand up comedy, poetry, song, improvisation and monologue, to dramatize the conflict between the seven Jungian archetypes in her own psyche: The Inner Child, The Hostage, The Romantic, The Judge, The Trickster, The Artist and The Wise Woman. These seven are Rubin's constant, bickering companions as she journeys through high school, college, work and a dizzying parade of substance and behavioral addictions. Like millstones around her neck, they drag her down until she hits "emotional bottom."

Having hit this place of vulnerability and selflessness, she becomes willing to "do it a different way." In so doing, she sifts through the crowd of voices in her mind and discovers the voice that's truly her own.

"Insides OUT!" is Rubin's third work for the stage and was her first solo show; she's performed it in New York, Boston, Miami, San Francisco and Sacramento, where it turned into a sold-out run.

She is now in development of her second solo show titled "Indecision Collision." Go online to www.katierubin.com for more about this artist.
