Marie M. Martin Osler Ream died May 3 at Springhill Manor with her loving daughter Beverly at her side. She was 97.
Inurnment will take place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery beside her beloved husband. Memorial services for family and friends wishing to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 17, at Penn Valley Community Church, 11739 Spenceville Road in Penn Valley.
Mrs. Ream was born Aug. 16, 1910, in Bellefonte, Pa., to Charles E. Martin and Mary Jane Scheckler Martin. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1928. She married Harold Ream on March 7, 1947 in Santa Fe, N.M. She worked as an executive secretary for Sandia Corporations in Albuquerque, N.M., for 25 years. She was a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., for more than 20 years, and lived in Port Charlotte, Fla., before relocating to Lake Wildwood.
Mrs. Ream was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, ADAH Chapter 5, in Albuquerque, N.M., for 50 years. She also was a member of the Port Charlotte Yacht Club; Punta Gorda Nine Hole Women's Golf Group in Florida; Lake Wildwood Nine Hole Women's Golf Group; Lake Wildwood Collectibelles III and "classy" Red Hatters. She attended Penn Valley Community Church and was a member of Presbyterian Church in Port Charlotte, Fla. Dancing was a passion throughout her life.
Mrs. Ream is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jerry Ferguson; adopted sister, Teresa Watkins of Raleigh, N.C., grandchildren Gary and wife Janet Ferguson, Tyce and wife Kathy Ferguson, and Corinne and husband Timothy Kennedy; great-grandchildren Ashley Ferguson, Lindsay Ferguson, Taylor Ferguson, Ryley Ferguson, Jered Kennedy and Kaitlin Kennedy; nephew and wife, Gastroch and Gail Terry; niece, Dolores Nellis, and nephew, William Martin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. Martin and Mary Jane Scheckler Martin; her husband of 53 years, Harold Ream; grandson Ronnie Ferguson and brother and sister-in-law, Irvin and Evelyn Martin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Foothills or Penn Valley Community Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City.
