Grass Valley police arrested a man on Brighton Street today after neighbors reported hearing two shots fired, police said.

The report came at about 4:30 p.m. on Brighton near French Street, where police found a man alone in a residence, police Sgt. Jason Perry said.

The man was expected to be booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility later tonight, Perry said.

He had not been booked as of 7 p.m. "We have a full booking room," a jail official said.

The man had sustained injuries prior to the arrest, Perry said. It is illegal to discharge a firearm in the city limits, he added.

No further information was available.
