Scofield, Joehnck earn endorsements

District 2 Supervisor candidate Ed Scofield has been endorsed by the Nevada County Farm Bureau and the Nevada County Contractors' Association.

The chief executive officer of the Nevada County Fair until year-end also is a former Grass Valley City Council member. He has served as president of Rotary International of Grass Valley and the Grass Valley/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.

Scofield is running against Bob Joehnck and Alan Kilborn for the southern Nevada County supervisorial seat being vacated by Sue Horne, who is running for California Assembly.

Meanwhile, the International Union of Operating Engineers, Stationary Engineers, Local 39, representing the largest number of Nevada County employees, has endorsed Joehnck.

Joehnck also has been endorsed by John Abt, cofounder of AJA Video, Bridgit Kosinski, co-owner of The Hay Barn, and Irv Mazur, a Lake of the Pines Ranchos resident.

Joehnck is an lawyer in land use, environmental issues, local government, housing and mining law.

He has been the general counsel for the California Housing Finance Agency and senior in-house counsel for the state department administering the Surface Mining and Reclamation Act. He also is the executive director of Project Jump Start in Nevada County.
