ROBERT LAWTON JR.

Robert "Bob" W. Lawton Jr. died May 4 in Grass Valley. He was 92.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 9, at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 9, at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at noon, Friday, May 9, at the Grass Valley Elks Lodge. Carlos Astesana will officiate the services. Burial will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Lawton Jr. was born Sept. 9, 1915, in San Francisco. He married Eowana Potter on July 30, 1938, in Willow. He was a retired logger and cateperiller operator.

Mr. Lawton Jr. was a member of the Elks, Nevada County Gem and Mineral Society, and Operating Engineers. He enjoyed R.V. traveling, rock hounding, and lapidary. He and his wife were long time residents of Grass Valley, having lived in Grass Valley since 1946.

Mr. Lawton Jr. is survived by his daughter, Gail Eowanda Pyle of Allyn, Wash.; sons Robert "Rocky" William Lawton III of Beaverton, Ore., and Gary E. Lawton of Anchorage, Alaska; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eowana May Lawton and son, Bruce M. Lawton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary.
