Matisse Geenty, an eighth grader at Yuba River Charter School, is presenting a violin recital at 7 p.m. May 10 at the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains on 246 South Church Street in Grass Valley.

The recital will help raise money to assist Ama Foundation, a non-profit that supports a children's home and community projects in Nepal.

Geenty's mother, Cristine Kelly, is the executive director of the Ama Foundation, and Geenty has been actively helping her with events and fundraisers in the Bay Area.

At the concert, Geenty will perform various classical pieces including Haydn's Violin Concerto in G major. Paul Perry, artistic director of Music in the Mountains, will accompany Geenty.

Suggested donation for the event is $15 per person. For more information, contact Cristine Kelly at cristinekelly@sbcglobal.net or call 913-0799.

Sixth through eighth graders at Chicago Park School can win tickets to a Giants game in San Francisco if they have perfect attendance from March 31 through May 23, said Superintendent-Principal Dan Zeisler.

At a time when schools countywide are trying to boost attendance to bolster their declining revenues, Chicago Park School has signed up for an attendance incentive program with the Comcast Sports Network in the Bay Area.

Comcast will send about 16 free tickets to the school, Zeisler said. Those with perfect attendance in grades six through eight can enter a drawing to win the tickets, Zeisler added.

Chicago Park School is a kindergarten through eighth grade school on Mt. Olive Road in Grass Valley.
