Linda Savitz
Writers from Donna Hanelin's "Light of Day" class will read from their current work Saturday evening.

The material ranges from personal narratives and the art of the memoir to novels and short nonfiction. Among the eight writers are a retired filmmaker, an article freelancer and a journalist and public relations professional. They include Paul August, Pat Barrentine, Anne Da Vigo, Terri Kent-Enborg, Donna Hanelin, John Jessup, Jr., Lynn Mc Clain and Gary Schlosser.

The event is to honor Donna Hanelin, who has taught creative writing in the area for 20 years, and who is now moving to Mexico to where she has taken many of her students on writing retreats.

Hanelin says, "through the marvels of technology, I plan to keep working with writers in the area and will also continue to offer retreats in Oaxaca. I also plan to return for visits so don't be surprised to see me now and then! I hope in these ways to stay close to the friends and writers who have created so much of the goodness and warmth of my life here in Nevada County."

Doors at Coffee Town (in same building with Book Town Books), Bank and South Auburn Streets, Grass Valley, open at 7 p.m. with the program beginning 15 minutes later. There is no charge.

Call (916) 624-5454 or (530) 265-8799 for more information.
