An indoor band concert for the family

12:01 a.m. PT May 1, 2008

This "Spring into Summer" concert, held at a church, features popular music made famous by Ray Charles and Henry Mancini, plus favorite showtunes from "Anything Goes" and "Hello, Dolly." The Nevada County Concert Band is performing the concert.

A high light is the folk story of "John Henry" and the American pride of building the railroad. Then the trombone will be center stage for a rousing circus-style march called "Shoutin' Liza Trombone," and the band will add several unusual instruments to create the dark sounds of a medley from the movie "Gladiator."

Free snacks at intermission, too. While there is no admission charge, donations to this non-profit are gratefully accepted.
