Men's clothing store to close in Grass Valley

Weekends, a men's clothing store in downtown Grass Valley, is holding a going-out-of-business sale.

Maurine Faria has owned the business for nearly 13 years, including a five-year stint in Nevada City before moving to 143 Mill Street.

Faria said it's time for her to retire, and she'll close her business when the inventory is gone. She said she will miss running a business in downtown Grass Valley.

"The downtown area is wonderful with Howard Levine who, along with others, have been very supportive," said Faria.

For more information about the sale, call 272-2677.

Tankless heaters save energy

ABT Plumbing & Electric, in Grass Valley, is offering homeowners information on the advantages of tankless water heaters.

"If you want to save energy, they are great. If you want to save money, it gets a little more complicated," owner Andrew Twidwell wrote in an article he published at his Web page, www.squidoo.com/abtplumbing.

"If you have a large water heater, like a 75-gallon or larger, or a large family, they will save you money. But if there are only two people in the home and you have a 40-gallon water heater, it will take a while to pay for its self in energy savings."

He goes on to suggest consulting with a licensed plumber. For more information about tankless water heaters, visit the Web page or contact Twidwell at 272-9120.
