Dave Wakeling and the English Beat will play at Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City Saturday night.

The six-member ska group that wowed audiences in the 1980s includes Wakeling on vocals and guitar, Andy Cox on guitar, David Steele on bass, Everett Morton on drums, Saxa on saxaphone and Ranking Roger toasting.

Wakeling is known for his stand-up style, telling his audiences the stories of the band's songs. He's tongue-in-cheek, political and environmental, bringing a message of love and unity set to a great dance beat.

He continues to tour as the English Beat, playing the group's hits with his all-star ska backing band, General Public, as well as Wakeling's new compositions.

He also plans to record two new albums.

Tickets are $25 in advance. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., music starts at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 325 Spring St., downtown Nevada City.
