You may have heard flautist Laurel Zucker in Nevada County before. She's popular and an excellent musician. This time her quartet's performance will be a unique fusion of traditional classical music with jazz for a crossover aspect: Rare but clever.

Composer Claude Bolling's Suites 1 and 2 for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio aren't performed often and it takes a talented group of musicians to play this music in a convincing and proper manner, says Ken Hardin, TCCA's artistic director.

A mix of Baroque elegance with modern swing, the suites were a top seller for many years in the seventies and the top of the hit parade for two years after Claude Bolling's first album's release.

When the quartet played this music several years earlier, the composer lauded them, saying, "Your musician partners are excellent and your flute playing suberb!!"

Each member of the quartet has stellar credentials. Concert goers will get to meet and greet them following the Sunday concert at a reception.
