Acting teacher shares his new book
12:01 a.m. PT Apr 17, 2008
Once a child actor, Darryl Hickman became a master acting teacher, sometimes to the rich and famous, and at other times to executive and teachers.
Now he's written about his techniques in "The Unconscious Actor: Out of Control, In Full Command" and will be at The Book Seller Saturday to talk about it.
Hickman's youth was spent acting. He worked in 100 films before he turned 18 with such luminaries as Judy Garland and Katharine Hepburn.
As an adult he developed his own trademark technique known as "The Process," teaching it in New York and Los Angeles. Jim Carrey and Marsha Mason were students. Burt Reynolds said about Hickman's book, "It's not a lesson in acting; it's a lesson in life."
The bookstore is located at 107 Mill St. in Grass Valley. Admission to the 3 p.m event is free.
Call the store at (530) 272-2131 for more information about the event or Karen Leigh Sharp at (530) 292-1626 for information about the author.
