Sixteen students from Nevada Union High School won awards in nine categories at a recent drama competition at Ohlone College in Fremont.

A total of 30 students from NU had entered the contest last week which drew participants from across the state, said Rob Metcalfe, drama instructor at NU.

"It's an elimination contest where students perform on Friday and Saturday for two different sets of judges," Metcalfe said. "The scores from those two rounds determine who makes the finals. The final round is performed Saturday afternoon. They award trophies based on that round."

The winners are:

Hannah Limov - first place in women's contemporary dramatic monologue.

Kate Tobie - first place in women's classical dramatic monologue.

Dylan Hoy-Bianchi - first place for student director of a one act play.

W. Forrest Holden - second place in men's contemporary dramatic monologue.

Michael Voorhees - second place in men's classical dramatic monologue

Janet Smith-Sayer, Allison Bronson, Dylan Hoy-Bianchi, Patrick Wheatley - second place in theatre games.

Trevor Wade, Josh Rice, Sam Robinson, Jack Anderson - third place in theatre games.

Jesse Triplett, Layne Austin - third place in classical comedic ensemble.

W. Forrest Holden - third place in men's classical comedic monologue.
