Friendship Club offers college knowledge program

The Union Staff

The Friendship Club has started a college knowledge program to offer advice about post-secondary education to middle-school and high school girls it serves.

Members of the club recently visited a number of universities including UC Santa Cruz, Cal State University in both Sacramento and in Chico, Mills College, San Jose State University, Sonoma State University and Santa Rosa Junior College.

The college knowledge program also provides scholarships to Friendship Club graduates who want to pursue a college education.

The mission of Friendship Club is to integrate disadvantaged adolescent girls into the community, teach them important life skills and empower them to complete their education and lead responsible lives.

The club has served more than 250 girls since its inception in 1995.
