Greenhorn Road blocked to all traffic

6:21 p.m. PT Mar 28, 2008

All vehicle traffic in and out of Greenhorn Road is blocked by a stuck truck between Sky Oaks and Knoll Top road, about 5.1 miles from Brunswick Road east of Grass Valley

At abut 2 p.m. Friday, a truck went over the creekbank on a hairpin turn along Greenhorn Road on the 17000 block, leaving part of the trailer hanging in the air across the creek.

Nearly half of the 53-foot trailer was left hanging over the creek about 10 feet below.

Traffic has been blocked in both directions for more than four hours. The California Highway Patrol responded.

Fisher’s Towing pulled the truck back onto the road, using one truck to lift it up and a second towtruck to support the vehicle laterally. They helped the driver get back on the road, and were helping him attempt to back out for more than a mile.

As of 6:30 p.m., the truck had moved only about 20 feet, and traffic remained blocked.

No one was injured in the accident.

The accident tore out many improvements neighbors had made to the privately owned road.
