Sue Horne raised $58,000 during the latest campaign contribution period and opponent Dan Logue raised $18,000, but both candidates for the 3rd District Assembly seat are stocked with cash for the GOP primary stretch run culminating on June 3.

Nevada County Supervisor Horne had $263,000 in her campaign coffers when the Jan. 1 to March 17 contribution started. After recent contributions came in and debts of $32,000 were paid, Horne had an ending cash balance of $290,000.

Yuba County Supervisor Logue had $273,000 on hand when the period started. After contributions arrived and $65,000 in debts were paid, the ending balance was $220,000.

Contributors for Horne included Nevada County residents, office holders and Northern California businesses.

The largest contributors for Horne this period all gave $7,200 and they were: Durham Valley Apples of Durham and two Danville firms, Nine Mile Hill Investment Co., and Noby Venture, LLC.

The Helen K. Baumann for Assembly campaign gave $3,600, while Carol Cevasco of Cottonwood sent Horne $2,000.

Other contributors were Lori Flippin, wife of Assessor Dale Flippin, who chipped in $1,000. Auditor/Controller Marcia Salter gave Horne $1,000, while Treasurer/Tax Collector Christina Dabis handed over $500.

Grass Valley School District Assistant Superintendent Susan Clarabut gave $200, while Jeff Foltz who just stepped down as interim city administrator in Grass Valley gave $250.

Hansen Bros. Enterprises gave Horne $1,000, while local insurance man Mike Bratton contributed $500.

The largest contributor for Logue during the period was the Mooretown Rancheria of Oroville for $2,500. Several contributed $1,000, including Nordic Industries of Marysville, the California Apartment Association, Norcal Waste Systems of San Francisco and Stromer Realty of Yuba City.

Former Plumas County Supervisor B.J. Pearson gave $1,000 to Logue, while Sacramento attorney Michael Vinding gave $900.

Nevada County notables contributing to Logue included B&C True Value Hardware owner Kimberly Janousek for $500, and the American Callidus Group, LTD of North San Juan for $100.

Nevada City

Only one of the four candidates vying for three Nevada City City Council spots filed a campaign expenditure report for the period. Reinette Senum reported $5,500, with $1,800 in expenditures for a balance of $3,700.

Contributors included Outside Inn owner Evans Phelps and attorney Kimberley Milligan pitching in $500 apiece. Alson and Alan Pomatto gave Senum $300, while SPD Market owners David Painter and Sharon Winegar-Painter gave a collective $200.

Candidates Robert Bergman, Gene Downing and incumbent David McKay did not report contributions, because they have not yet raised the $1,000 needed by state campaign law to file one.

City Clerk candidate Niel Locke said he had not raised the $1,000. Opponent and current city councilman Steve Cottrell chose to sign an official pledge at his candidate filing to not raise or spend more than $1,000.
