Nevada Union's baseball team fell on Monday due to stagnant bats, stunted by a left-handed pitcher, in a 12-4 loss to Rocklin.
The Miners gave up five runs in the first two innings, but roared back to a 5-4 deficit by the third inning.
"(Then), they made a pitching change and a brought in a little lefty," NU coach Ted White said. "I think they allowed only one hit after that."
Rocklin had 13 hits to NU's 6 in the game, with all of the Miners' damage coming from three players.
David Wilkins went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs while Dalton Covert hit 2-for-4 with a double as well. Robbie Porter hit 2-for-3 with an RBI.
The Miners scored three runs in the second inning, with Wilkins accounting for two and another coming off a throwing error.
NU (3-6, 0-2 Sierra Foothill League) goes to Del Oro on Thursday to continue league play.

Gold Country Stampede
continues win streak
The Gold Country Stampede junior varsity team improved its record to 5-0 with Friday's 6-1 victory over Yuba City.
The Stampede took control of the game early on and scored three goals early in the first period.
The opening goal came when midfielder Justin Lawton charged down the field netting the first goal to put the Stampede on the scoreboard.
The next two goals came from assists from Cody LaMarche to attackmen Sky King and Patrick Kontinen to put the Stampede up 3-0.
During the second period of play the Stampede out shot Yuba City 8-4 while converting on two goals. Midfielder Alex Rhea hit Chris Carcido in the opening minutes of the second quarter and Alec Shoop posted the assist to Jake Heppting to put Gold Country up 5-0. The third period was scoreless and the Stampede defense - led by Sean O'Brien, Joe Lavelle, Nick Talbot, Garret Jensen and C.J. Gillespie - shut down the Yuba City offense.
In the final period Kontinen scored his second goal of the game off an assist from King after the Stampede offense was relentless, firing eight shots to tear apart Yuba City's defense. In the final minute of the game, Yuba City redeemed themselves by getting on the scoreboard.
The Stampede Gold team takes on their brother team, Stampede Black 7 p.m. April 2 at Nevada Union High School.
