Auburn City Council member Keith Nesbitt was sworn-in as mayor late Thursday.
"I'm honored to be the mayor," Nesbitt said. "And I'm up for the challenges."
Nesbitt, an Auburn resident since 1990, is co-owner of Pacific States Mortgage Advisors, an Auburn mortgage company. He serves on the Auburn Economic Development Commission and is a member of Gold Country Rotary.
He also has served on the city Planning Commission, the Chamber of Commerce board of directors and the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army's Auburn Corps.
Nesbitt was elected to the city council in 2004. Council members serve as mayor by rotation; Nesbitt served as mayor pro tem before becoming mayor.
"It's the luck of the draw that I get to be mayor at this time," Nesbitt said. "I'm fired-up and ready to go."
He was looking forward to opening a park created by the Placer Land Trust, a conservation easement donated by the City of Auburn, which will be used to link Auburn's downtown and Old Town - one of the first conservation easements of it's kind in California, he said.
