Grass Valley man arrested on suspicion of rape

A Grass Valley man is being held in the Nevada County jail on suspicion of rape for an alleged incident over the weekend involving Internet pornography.

Clifford Jaspar, 50, was arrested Friday night on suspicion of rape and penetration with a foreign object, according to Lt. Bill Evans of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect allegedly forced himself on a 21-year-old woman who as at his residence earlier in the day, Evans said. The incident took place on Quarterhorse Drive in Grass Valley, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The victim went to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital to be checked and deputies were alerted to her situation, Evans said.

The alleged victim told investigators Jaspar offered her $200 to pose nude for pictures to be shown on the Internet, according to the news release.

She said Jaspar assured her that her face would not be shown and her identity would not be revealed.

During the course of the photo shoot, Jaspar allegedly became aroused and raped the woman, according to the news release.

Sheriff’s officers then located Jaspar and took him in for questioning, Evans said. Detectives interviewed Jaspar, and then arrested him on the charges.

He remains at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility today on a bail of $50,000.
