Put together a blues jam with Coopers in Nevada City, and what you have is a glorious good time of dancin'. It's happening on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
Hosting this Sunday Blues Jam & Goodtimes, put on by the Sierra Blues Society, is the Morning Wood Blues band - a good thing because this band is hot.
Says SBS president Thom Myers, "We were doing our monthly jam down at the Torch Club back in July when this little lady signed up on the jam list and sat there patiently. We had no prewarning about this bundle of dynamite! When called up, Pinkie proceeded to shred up the stage! We knew right then and there that this gal needed to host one of our jams."

Often compared to Janis Joplin, Pinkie Rideau has Cajun roots; maybe that explains it. We hear from Myers that one Morning Wood Blues member (call him "The Dude" or "Marz") is a "ferocious bass player." Good, we like 'em that way.
But Morning Wood Blues is only part of the action. Three other blues bands may sign up on the schedule (come early) and use most of the host band's equipment. Individual artists are also encouraged to take to the stage.
"The jams are really becoming a seasoned adventure, and the level of playing is reaching a new level every month," says Myers, and we believe him.
