Marie Johnson

Marie Crookshanks Johnson died Oct. 29, 2007, at her home in Grass Valley. She was 95.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 1, at Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in Nevada City. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Nov. 2, at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery, Gridley. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Nov. 3, at the Grass Valley United Methodist Church in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Johnson was born April 25, 1912, in Walcott, N.D., to Nicholas and Elenora (Ista) Krummer. She graduated from Colfax High School and Bismarck Evangelical School of Nursing, both in North Dakota. She worked as a registered nurse and was the director of nurses for the Nevada County Hospital and a labor and delivery nurse at Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Auxiliary Unit 122, DAV, the Grass Valley United Methodist Church and Faith Circle. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling.

She is survived by Walter Johnson, Bruce Crookshanks, Susan Sparks, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Edward Crookshanks.
