The man who helped start the county's adult day care center, prominent seniors activist Larry Lutz, has died at the age of 90, family members said Wednesday.
Mr. Lutz died Thursday, Sept. 27, at an assisted living facility in Santa Maria. Private family services will be held at a later date.
He was born April 12, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was married to Jean Lutz.
Mr. Lutz was a Nevada County retiree who served on the Commission on Aging in the 1980s and helped start the Lutz Center adult day care facility, which was named after him.
He was a member of the Nevada County Grand Jury in the 1990s, family members said.
He and his wife moved to the Santa Maria area about a year ago, where she preceded him in death.
