Anne Lowrey, a Nevada Union graduate, has received the Patricia McCune Irvine Honorary Scholarship at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Lowrey, daughter of Bret and Dianna Lowrey of Grass Valley, is a student of English. She received the $1,000 scholarship on the basis of scholastic achievement, campus and community involvement, and leadership.
Lowrey is also a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity, an international womens fraternity with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Katie Anne Hendrickson graduated from The Fashion Institute of Design and Mechandising in San Diego, on June 16, 2007.
Hendrickson earned a degree in Merchandise Markerting. She is the daughter of Rodney and Rita Hendrickson, formerly of Penn Valley, who now reside in San Diego.

Aria Davenport, a Bitney Springs High School student, has received a $2,500 aviation scholarship from the Golden Empire Flying Association.
Davenport has already passed his flight medical, engaged in some flight training, and has begun ground school training. He is involved in The Civil Air Patrol.
The Golden Empire Flying Association scholarship committee selects scholarship recipients from high school students living in Nevada County. Recipients are required to write essays on why they want to be a pilot, provide letters of recommendation, and are interviewed.

The Sierra College Wolverine Athletic Association is accepting nominations for its 2008 Hall of Fame to honor former and current athletes, coaches, and community members.
