Five Aanestad bills moving in legislature

Measures range from dentistry to salmon

Print Comment
Five bills authored by Senator Sam Aanestad (R-Grass Valley) passed out of committee hearings Monday and are moving forward in the legislature. The bills are:

• SB 252 — The measure would require that registered sex offenders be prohibited from getting a license to be a dentist in California and allow the Dental Board to revoke licenses for those required to register as sex offenders.

• SB 969 — The bill would change the requirement that a veterinarian must have practiced outside of California full time in four of the last five years to two of the last three years. The measure will allow veterinary technicians and unregistered assistants to administer drugs under the indirect supervision of a licensed veterinarian.

• SB 1018 — The measure creates the Salmon Fishing Aid Revolving Loan Program (SFARLP) to provide loans to salmon fishermen and other businesses directly impacted by a federal decision to substantially reduce the north state salmon season.

• SB 567 — The measure will permit the DGS to sell six properties that are considered by the agency to be surplus. Proceeds from the sale of the properties will be used to pay down Economic Recovery Bonds.

• SB 431 — would allow Butte and Solano counties staff and trial court workers to participate in PERS under a joint contract.
