Agents honored at Law and Order Night

People involved in law enforcement in western Nevada County were recognized recently at the Law and Order Night.

The annual event is sponsored by the Nevada City Elks Lodge No. 518 to applaud area law enforcement and give local agencies a forum to honor their employees, organizer and Elks member Yolanda Bachtell said.

Elks provide a steak dinner and plaques for the event that recently has been expanded to include the county Probation Department, court system, the District Attorney's office and the Public Defender's office, Bachtell said.

The main activities of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the USA is charity and patriotism, supporting youth, veterans, the disadvantaged, handicapped, and patriotic groups, Bachtell said.

Local officers that were recognized are:

&#149; Corporal Mike Walsh, Nevada County Sheriff's Office

&#149; Correctional Officer Randal Langer, Nevada County Sheriff's Office

&#149; Nancy Anderson, Sexual Assault Response Team, NCSO (nominated for awards by both the NCSO and county Probation Department)

&#149; Officer Tucker Huey, Nevada City Police Department

&#149; Officer John Herrera, Grass Valley Police Department

&#149; Reserve Officer Todd Tripp, Grass Valley Police Department

&#149; Detective Robert Womack, Truckee Police Department

&#149; Officer David Paulus, California Highway Patrol, Grass Valley

&#149; Officer James Giraudo, California Highway Patrol, Truckee

&#149; Ron Wolfson, retired assistant district attorney

&#149; Mike Ferguson, retired district attorney
