The new logo on Nevada County Sheriff's patrol cars will have a contemporary look.
The graphic on the doors of the cars will show an image of the department's new badge, which is reminiscent of a traditional emblem used by the Sheriff's Department more than 100 years ago.

The circular designed badge with a star in the middle will replace the familiar badge with five points.
"It's more contemporary but also illustrates part of our history," Sheriff Keith Royal said.

The new graphic will drop the county map and add more pronounced lettering.

So far, three vehicles are marked with the new images but the number will increase when old patrol cars are replaced by new ones, Royal said.
