Rose “Marian” Walsh, 84, of Grass Valley died peacefully in her home at Eskaton Village on Sunday January 21, 2007.
Mrs. Walsh was born October 1, 1922 to Max and Mary Trujillo in Richmond, California and spent her childhood in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The family moved to Napa, California where she met and married her high school sweetheart, the late Edwin “Red” Walsh. The couple had married 57 years before Mr. Walsh’s death in 1997.
While raising six children, Marian played a key role in the family business, Gazebo Enterprises, the parent company of ‘Johnny and Red’s’ and ‘Slick and Red’s’ pizza pubs located throughout Northern California that featured live Dixieland Jazz music.
In 1976, Ed and Marian retired from the restaurant business and moved to Grass Valley where Marian contributed her culinary talents as cook for the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for a number of years before retiring in the mid 1990’s. In their retirement years, Ed and Marian enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and spending time with family and friends.
Marian will be lovingly remembered by her family and many frineds as vibrant and fun-loving, whose most cherished possessions were all her children.
She is survived by her children Kate Hodge of Reno, Nevada: Carol Wheeler of Grass Valley; Daniel Walsh of Grass Valley; and Christine Walsh of Stockton; sister and brother-in-law Grace and Ron Broten of Arcadia; grandchildren Ben and Tara Barker; Scott and Jesse Wheeler; Nicol Bauers; Joshua and Joseph Walsh; Shelly Walsh; Nadia Nunnink and great-grandchildren Sydney, Devin and Hayden Bauers; Chandler and Taryn Wheeler; Jace and resse Wheeler; Zhoe Walsh; and Doug and Jenica Baker. Marian was preceeded in death by her daughter, Linda and her husband, Edwin C. Walsh.
Services are pending and are under the arrangement of Hooper and Weaver Mortuary in
Grass Valley, California.
