Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed six members to the Nevada County Board of Directors.
The positions do not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. All the appointees are Republican, except for Ronald Wolfson, who is a Democrat. The appointees are:
Ronald Wolfson, 62, of Nevada City. He has served on the Board since 2001, and has served as an assistant district attorney for the Nevada County District Attorney's Office since 1991.
Sanford Ballou, 40, of Grass Valley. Since 1997, he has owned Emigrant Springs Ranch, a horse boarding, training, breeding and sales facility. He currently serves as first vice president of the Nevada County Farm Bureau.
Thomas Browning, 50, of North San Juan. He has served as the battalion chief at Station No. 2 for the City of Grass Valley Fire Department since 1998. He is a member of the Nevada County Farm Bureau and the state Conference of Arson Investigators.
Robert Lyss, 70, of Nevada City. He has served on the Fair Board since 2005. He most recently served as senior vice president for health affairs and chief medical officer for Health Partners of the Southeast from 1997 to 1999.
Willard Schultz, 73, of Grass Valley. He has served as a facilitator in anger management for the Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Coalition since 2003. He was a Nevada County Supervisor from 1986 to 1994.
Arthur Whitney, 57, of Grass Valley. He has served as president of Pacific West Pharmacy since 1987. He is a member of the Nevada County Ag Boosters, Nevada County Farm Bureau and the Nevada County Beef Breeders.
