Nevada City engineer Bill Falconi has been named recipient of the 2006 Elza Kilroy Award.
The honor acknowledges outstanding community service. It is one of several presented by the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.
Falconi is a second-generation Nevada City native who has worked with the city since the 1970s. He's a U.S. Army veteran and graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a degree in engineering.

The South Yuba River Citizen's League was awarded the Dr. Leland and Sally Lewis Visual Arts award for its promotion of the "Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival."
Author and playwright Sands Hall received with Dr. Leland and Sally Lewis Performing Arts honor for directing the Foothill Theatre Company's production of "Strange Sightings in the Great Southwest" and The Center for the Arts' performance of "Madwoman of Chaillot."
The Staser family was honored with the W. Lon Cooper New Construction Award for rebuilding their family home on Sacramento Street in a manor consistent with the city's historic architecture.
Contractor Jesse Connor and his wife, Kay, received the 23rd Annual Stan Halls Architectural Award for the renovation of their home at 422 Searls Avenue in Nevada City. The building was the former home, brewery and bottling works of early Nevada City brewer Simon Hieronomous.
Music in the Mountains was awarded the live-music award for celebrations tied to the group's 25th anniversary.
The chamber board members selected and nominated winners. The honors will be presented on Jan. 27 at Miners Foundry. For more information, call 265-2692.
