Members of Nevada Unions competition cheer team celebrate their second place finish at the NorCal UCA Regional at Sac State in November. The team took first place in the NorCal USA Regional Cheer competition in Tracy on Dec. 9, earning a bid at the USA Nationals to be held in March at Anaheim.
Four members of the Bear River varsity football team have been named to the All-Pioneer Valley League team.
Leading the way for the Bruins was senior linebacker Axel Wadman, who was named the PVL's Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Also earning All-PVL honors was Bear River senior quarterback C.J. Crausby, along with senior wide receiver Lars Nielsen, junior offensive lineman Joel Davis and junior defensive lineman Spencer Krans.

Voted to second team were juniors Jobany Betancourt (center), Chase Duncan (offensive tackle), Gary Schmidt (tight end), Matt Belnap (linebacker), Tommy Jones (defensive tackle), Jared Murnan (kicker) and senior Hunter Tanquary (defensive back).
The Bruins finished the season with an overall record of 7-4 and took second place in the PVL.
De La Salle defeated
De La Salle of Concord fell for the first time this season Saturday in the 2006 CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games as Canyon of Canyon Country scored a 27-13 victory in the Division I showdown.
Also emerging with a win in the inaugural event, which pits section champions from Northern California against Southern California champions, were Orange Lutheran and Oaks Christian.
The Bruins finished the season with an overall record of 7-4 and took second place in the PVL.

Alumni game raises $1,900
Saturday's Fourth Annual Alumni Football Game between former Bear River and Nevada Union players helped raise $1,900 that will be directed to scholarships at both schools.
The inaugural Bear River-Nevada Union Alumni Football Memorial Scholarship Fund will present a $300 award to one student from each school. The recipients will receive their award at each shool's varsity team banquet.

Campora to dive for TCU
Former Forest Lake Christian diver Nikka Campora has signed a national letter of intent to dive for Texas Christian University next fall.
Campora, who transferred from FLC to Placer High School this year, is a national all-American diver and was highly recruited. She made official recruiting visits to the University of New Mexico and the University of Kansas and was also recruited by the Army academy, University of Nevada-Reno and Cal Baptist.
