Every year, when I read coverage by The Union of The Nevada County Food and Toy Run, I have the same thought: The organizer, Thom Staser, and his helpers get but a small portion of the heaps of praise they deserve.

His work begins long before the actual motorcycle parade begins as food and supplies are collected from local businesses to be donated to less fortunate members of our community.

For me, whether I am a participant or an enthusiastic observer of the Toy Run, it is a reminder of what Christmas is about.

I hope more people will hear the roar each year as the bikers roll through town. ... You don't have to ride a motorcycle to participate in this awesome event.
