Nancy Palmer, 68, has been a Sierra College trustee since 1994. If re-elected, she wants to address a number of issues concerning Sierra College.
Palmer has four main areas of concentration. She wants to discuss with the administration what repairs need to be done at the Sierra College Rocklin campus and find out how much it would cost, and how the money would be raised.
She also wants to ensure, when construction starts at the Sierra College Grass Valley campus, that the renovation is done according to what was promised to the voters.
The two other issues that Palmer espouses are building the Truckee campus and determining if Sierra College would continue to lease property at the Gateway location or purchase the building.
“I bring 12 years of experience,” said Palmer, a retired accountant. “I know Sierra College. I attend every meeting we have all over, all the time. I don’t aspire to go any higher than Sierra College. Sierra College is my first and only choice.”
A Grass Valley resident for the past 33 years, Palmer also is the president of the Placer County Treasury Oversite Committee, membership chair of Rotary District 5190, member of Grass Valley Rotary Club, and is a volunteer of Friends of Hospice for 18 years.
Palmer has been married for 35 years and lives in Grass Valley with her husband. Her son is an elementary school teacher in Molokai, Hawaii.
