The Blue Marvellz from Paradise will perform at the Blues Extravaganza.
The Whitewater Blues Band from Marysville, the Equinox Blues Band Revue from Sacramento, the Blue Marvellz from Paradise and the Lara Price Band from San Jose are coming together Saturday (Sept. 2) to play blues like you've never heard them played before - for a good cause, too: aiding people who are recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction.
The evening is sponsored by the Recovery Alumni Association in Grass Valley in conjunction with the Sacramento Blues Society and KVMR Radio of Nevada City.

"The money we raise," says Angel Bojorquez, who is the producer and MC of the show, "goes to help addicts with rent, groceries, diapers and car insurance - things that often present a problem getting them through government offices because of the red tape." He said they have an active roster of about 50 members in RAA.
The Whitewater Blues Band plays traditional blues classics and originals with a subtle flavor of rock and jazz. The Blue Marvellz plays blues, R&B and Gospel. The Lara Price Band tours the U.S. and China has four CDs to its name. It plays such festivals as the Monterey Blues Festival and has shared the bill with such artists as Etta Jame, Little Richard and James Brown.
The fun starts at 6 p.m. at The Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley. Tickets are $12 in advance (call 273-9541) or $15 at the door.
Call Angel Bojorquez at 274-7561 for information about the show and about Recover Alumni Association.
