In 1988, a liquid natural gas carrier on its way to Indonesia picked up 12 Vietnamese refugees who had been adrift for 3 days.

They were all teenagers.

Their supplies consisted of a bag of wet rice, some water and fuel.

On Saturday, the former first mate of the LNG Virgo Mike Blanton and his family welcomed six of those refugees to their Nevada City home for their first reunion.
