A memorial mass for Lucille E. Leahy of Grass Valley will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grass Valley. Private burial will take place at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley.
Mrs. Leahy died Sunday, May 21, in Grass Valley. She was 99.
She was born Nov. 1, 1906, in Lyons, Neb., to Noah and Ellen Garvis. She graduated from Lyons High School. She married George E. Leahy on Dec. 21, 1924, in Los Angeles. In 1938, they built a home in Broadview Heights where she lived for 68 years. She worked for Leahy's Liquors, Leahy Home Supply, Alpha Hardware, and Ludell's which she retired from in 1978. She was a member of the Young Ladies Institute, Catholic Ladies Relief Society, Rife, Rod and Gun Club, and the Nevada County Bridge Club. She enjoyed bowling, bridge, gardening, reading, and arts and crafts.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and William Dunk of Roseville; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patricia Leahy of Grass Valley; grandchildren Janet and David Neitzel of Shingle Springs, Jeffrey Dunk and Sabra Steinberg of McKinleyville; Stacey Dunk of Rocklin, David and Dominique Leahy of Germany and Kevin Leahy of Grass Valley; great-grandchildren Amanda and Marissa Neitzel of Shingle Springs, Alexandria Doyle of Marysville, Haleigh Dunk of McKinleyville, and Trinity and Trentin Leahy of Germany; sister and brother-in-law, Rose and George Gray of Tustin; sister, Virginia Alexander of Walnut; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Leahy in 1959; son, Kenneth Leahy in 1968; father, Noah Garvis in 1958; mother, Ellen Garvis in 1968; sisters Grace Garvis in 1977, and Pearl Laible in 1995; and brother, Edward Garvis in 1982.
