Motherlode disc golf

A capacity field of 110 entries is expected to participate this weekend during the SkyCatz Disc Golf Club's 15th annual Motherlode amateur tournament.

Play in the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) amateur B tier event begins today at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley and concludes Sunday at the Condon Park Disc Golf Course. Play tees off today immediately after the 9:15 a.m. players meeting and after the 8:30 a.m. players meeting on Sunday.

Competition is staged in various divisions, including advanced, advanced masters, advanced women, amateur, novice and junior.

Looking ahead, the Motherlode Pro Tournament will attract a field of professional players to Condon Park and Western Gateway Park the weekend of May 6-7.

The Spring Fling Doubles Tournament will also be held on June 17 at the Auburn Disc Golf Course and at Condon Park.
