Dates for disc golf tournaments set

Three disc golf tournaments are rapidly approaching, the first of which begins April 22.

That tournament - the Motherlode 2006 Amateur - runs at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley on Saturday and concludes at Condon Park in Grass Valley on Sunday.

The entry fees for the amateur B-tier event range from $20 for the junior division to $45 for advanced.

Early registration is possible from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 21, at Condon Park.

Late registration lasts from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at Western Gateway Park on April 22.

The Motherlode 2006 Pro tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 6 and 7.

The fee for all pro divisions is $75. Players can register early Friday, May 5, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Condon Park, or Saturday, May 6 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Western Gateway Park.

The first round, on Saturday, will be at Western Gateway Park. Sunday's second round will be played at Condon Park.

On Saturday, June 17, the Spring Fling Doubles Tournament will begin at the Auburn Disc Golf Course, continue to Western Gateway Park and end at Condon Park, all in one day.

The price for a team of two is $60, and $40 for junior teams.

Cheerleading meeting set Wednesday

A meeting for Bear River cheerleading tryouts will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bear River High School, room C202.

It is recommended that anyone interested in joining the team, including next year's freshmen, attend.

Tryouts will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every night from April 24 to April 28.
