Jennifer Allison Shaban of Meadow Vista and Steven Michael Putnam of Grass Valley were married Feb. 20 on Maui at sunset. Thirty-eight friends and family members gathered for the ceremony, the rehearsal dinner at Bubba Gumps in Lahaina, Hawaii, as well as a beautiful reception dinner at the Five Palms in Kehei. There are plans for a reception to be held in June for all who could not attend.
A traditional Hawaiian conch shell blower and torch bearer preceded the bride to the beach to meet her betrothed waiting in the sand amid a ring of Hawaiian flowers. The bride's father gave her away.
The bride is the daughter of Diana and John Shaban of Meadow Vista. She is a graduate of Colfax High School and of California State University, Sacramento, with a degree in criminal justice. She works at Hansen Bros. Enterprises.
The bridegroom, also a graduate of Colfax High School, is the son of Krista and Michael Putnam of Grass Valley. He is a shop foreman for Superior Truck and Equipment in Newcastle.
The bride wore a strapless white satin Nikita wedding gown with lace and beading overlay. She wore a lei of orchids, roses and baby's breath, and carried a matching bouquet.
The matron of honor was the bride's sister, Julie Cohodes.
The best man/ring bearer was Patrick Lambert of Roseville.
The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.
They live in Grass Valley.
