The Nevada County branch of the American Association of University Women is accepting applications for scholarships to be awarded to students for the 2006-07 school year. AAUW is committed to supporting women in Nevada County who wish to pursue a post-high school education.
AAUW is currently working with Nevada Joint Union High School District to review candidates who apply as high school graduates. Young women whose academic achievement has been successful and whose application for a scholarship is accepted by the scholarship selection committee will receive recognition and a scholarship award at a level of $1,000 each at the Spring Awards Night at each of the high school campuses. High school students may apply for these available awards at either Bear River or Nevada Union High Schools.
Re-Entry Scholarships are also available through AAUW. We offer a scholarship to women residing in Nevada County whose educations have been interrupted and who wish to return to a post-high school program for the purpose of achieving a degree or advanced educational endeavor.
Students who are planning to graduate from Sierra College in Spring 2006 with plans to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete their 4-year degrees are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Interested girls may make application for this scholarship through the Scholarship Office at Sierra College.
If you know of someone who may be interested in an application for the Re-Entry scholarships, please contact Linda Kramer at (530) 268-2800 or (916) 624-6478 or online at lkramer@pleasant ridge.k12.ca.us.
It is expected that the scholarships will be awarded in June. Applications are available now and are due April 1.
