I would like to applaud The Union for publishing such a touching article on Randy Duncan. Drug abuse is handled so poorly in this country, and it is a breath of fresh air to see our local newspaper approach this problem with so much compassion.
Although it can lead to criminal action, drug abuse is a disease and not a crime. For this very reason, I also applaud the unnamed superior court judge who chose to send Mr. Duncan to drug rehabilitation rather than jail.
Furthermore, I would like to congratulate Mr. Duncan on his recovery. He is a model for all meth addicts, and I hope his story inspires others to take the difficult path to sobriety that he has taken.
