Tina Marie Abas of Grass Valley and David Alexander Hookom of New York City were married Sept. 4 at a private residence in Nevada County. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Richard Johnson of Peace Lutheran Church.

The event was hosted by the bride's mother, Rosie Tappero, and father, John Abas, who built a 3,000 square foot floor for their 165 guests to dine and dance on outside under the stars. Guests traveled from New York, Ohio, Florida and Southern California to attend the wedding and dinner reception.

The bride is a graduate of Nevada Union High School and of Columbia University. She is a social worker for the Actors' Fund of America.

The bridegroom is the son of Emily Rich of Milford, Ohio and Don Hookom of Holmes Beach, Fla. He is a graduate of Cornell University and works in the technology industry.

The bride wore an A-line Casablanca gown with beaded bodice, and carried an heirloom handkerchief embroidered with her wedding date and those of her parents and grandparents. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, tulips and hydrangeas.

The matron of honor was Wendy Willoughby, the bride's sister.

The best man was the groom's brother, Don Hookom.

The wedding cake was created by Donna Imsand, The Cake Artist.

The photographer was Melanie Mages.

The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.

They live in Los Angeles.
