Pure Stock driver Mike McClure of Nevada City raced into first place in the season standings at Placerville Speedway Saturday night, while Dan Brown maintained his hold on third place in the Pro Stock class.
McClure started the night strong, winning the first heat, and carried that momentum into the feature race, which he won as well. McClure now has four feature wins, three heat wins and 11 top-five finishes in 13 starts to propel him into the top spot in the Pure Stock division at Placerville Speedway.
Dan Brown Jr., of Nevada City, finished second in his heat before driving to sixth place in the feature race. With twelve top ten results in thirteen starts this year, Brown is solidly in fourth place in the points standings.
Michelle McClure, Mike's sister, finished fifteenth in the feature race after a fifth place finish in heat one.
Pro stocker Dan Brown got his second heat win of the season before ending the "A" feature in fourth place. Brown maintained his hold on third place in the Pro Stock category but was unable to make up any ground as series leader Shane Miller of Sacramento won the "A" feature and Auburn's Wayne Trimble came in third ahead of Brown. Trimble also got a heat win to help his cause. Brown is eight points behind Trimble and 24 behind Miller.
