The U.S. Air Force has convened two separate boards to investigate a U-2 spy plane crash in the Middle East that killed a pilot stationed at Beale Air Force Base.
Major Duane Dively was at the controls of a U-2 Dragon Lady when it crashed June 22 while trying to land at an airfield in the United Arab Emirates. He was deployed to the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing from the ninth Reconnaissance Wing headquartered at Beale.
A safety investigation board was convened after the crash to determine the cause and recommend measures to prevent a recurrence.
A separate accident investigation board has been convened to determine the facts of the accident and reach a conclusion on the cause. Its report will be released to the public.
