Thousands of gallons of raw sewage spilled into Little Deer Creek this weekend, the Nevada County Department of Environmental Health announced today. A ball of roots clogged a sewer pipe in Pioneer Park, causing more than 10,000 gallons of sewage to flow into a drainage ditch and then into Little Deer Creek.
Nevada City officials will remove the sewage from the ditch, clean the area with liquid bleach, and sample Little Deer Creek, a spokesperson said.
