Republican U.S. Rep. John Doolittle easily reclaimed his seat in the House Tuesday, apparently winning about two-thirds of the vote in California's fourth representative district.

With 33 percent of precincts reporting, Doolittle had 67 percent over Democrat David Winters' 33 percent.

Doolittle, a California native who was first elected to the House in 1991, and has risen to its leading ranks, helping him easily best Winters, an Auburn resident who switched parties last year after becoming disgruntled with Doolittle's policies.

Doolittle trounced Winters in campaign finance - raising about $850,000 to Winters' $2,300.
