Come to the park for Picnic Pops concert



The last Pioneer Park Picnic Pops concert this summer will be Sunday.

With the theme of "Music of the West," the Nevada County Concert Band will perform songs such as "Little Rhapsody in Blue" by George Gershwin, "Billy the Kid" by Aaron Copland/Phillip J. Lang, "On the Trail" from "Grand Canyon Suite" by Ferde Grofé, "Oklahoma" and "West Side Story" medleys, and spirituals "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," "Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho" and "Get On Board, Little Children."

In addition to performing, the band members will recognize the Lions Club for its contributions to Nevada County.

The free concert is at 5 p.m. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Pioneer Park is off of Nimrod and Park streets in Nevada City.
