I want to thank Kevin Wiser and The Union for the great article in the paper last week asking people to help the animals at the Nevada County Animal Shelter by adopting them.
When Kevin wrote the article last week the shelter was filled to nearly double its capacity. Thanks to many people in the community the population is down to a more manageable level.
Many cats and dogs got wonderful new homes. I hope that every person who adopted a pet is having a wonderful time with their new friend.
There's nothing like a friendly dog or cat to ease the stresses and strains of everyday life. I also appreciate the previous week a short statement in the "news in brief" asking people to come to the shelter and adopt a cat.
Things are better at the shelter, but please public don't stop coming. There are new dogs and cats coming in on a daily basis and we are always, always, always, working as hard as we can to find our furry friends suitable homes. We want the adoption rate to continue to go up and the euthanasia rate to go down.
Thanks to one and all who helped out. We really appreciate it.
