I recently was hospitalized for three weeks because of an extremely toxic reaction to chemotherapy. Of course, my family was there for me, but I had no idea I was surrounded by friends I didn't know I had.

As has been the tradition for many years, the Nevada City and Grass Valley/Nevada County Chambers of Commerce, along with the Grass Valley Downtown Association, will host the 4th of July parade, which will be held in downtown Nevada City this year.

I'm responding to letters bemoaning the “derelicts” and “low lifes” of Nevada City.

This morning, walking into the Rood Center to pay my taxes, I noticed a man sitting in a cushioned chair in the lobby reading a newspaper.

I would like to extend my heartiest thanks to Wendy Riley and John Hendrickson of Real Life Fitness. They have nurtured my health in mind, body and spirit. I count them as true friends.

A new voting procedure for U.S .Congress, and state Senate and Assembly, will begin this year. Vote-by-mail ballots will begin to arrive in our mailboxes on May 7. The ballot will list all candidates for each office regardless of political party. The...

Thank you to the NU high school choir and students who sponsored a party in the park for the re-elect Tom Anderson campaign! The hot dogs and chips were great! The choir sang beautifully and it sounded so professional, even without the amplification.
